William Puryear (90) departed this life on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 4:20 PM. May his memory be eternal. The love of his life, Mary Elizabeth (Bibbie) Puryear went before him following a fifty year marriage. She awaits him with open arms. As a Civil Engineer for our Government, he and Bibbie traveled the world together; living in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Washington, DC and finally settling in Wilmington, NC. Bill later relocated to Twin Lakes, Burlington, NC. In 1953, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served with the 28th Infantry. Bill was active in the Baptist Church, serving in such positions as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Throughout his life, he was passionate about music and Ballroom Dancing. He is survived by a sister, Alice Puryear Tumblin (John)-a beloved son, Bentz Edward Puryear (Margaret)-a loving daughter, Sandra Darryl Lambros (Andrew) in addition to four incredible grandchildren.
