Okeechobee – William “Bill” Dewayne Register died August 25, 2021. He was born April 10, 1969, in Hahira, Georgia to Earl Wayne Register, Sr., and Bertie Jean McMillian. Bill never met a stranger and was a true friend to all those he came in contact with. If you were lucky enough to know him you knew there were few people as kind, loyal, honest, or humble as him. He was the good you look for and want to see in others, which is why this loss is just a little harder than most. Bill also loved his family very much. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do to help them with any and everything they called him for.
Bill had many passions – He loved photography, animals, and nature, and was a founding member of the “Okeechobee Nature Photographers” group. He never missed an opportunity to rescue an injured animal on the side of the road, or to snap a picture of nature’s beauty that most would overlook. Geocaching was his other major interest, leading him on many adventures in his free time. These particular passions, however, paled in comparison to his love for the Georgia Bulldogs.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Bertie Jean McMillan.
He is survived by his father, Earl Wayne Register, Sr., of Okeechobee; stepmother, Lorene Register, of Okeechobee; brothers, Earl Register, Jr., of Sebring, Franklin Register, of Okeechobee, Travis Register, of Okeechobee; sisters, Melinda Register, Crystal Register, JoAnn Register, all of Okeechobee and life partner, Robin Hayes.
