William “Bill” A. Fast, age 79, of Salem, died at 10:57 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. He was born January 23, 1935 in Washingtonville, son of the late Joseph and Mildred (Dunn) Fast. Bill had been employed at the Columbiana County Court House as bailiff for 7 years and had previously worked for 35 years at the former E.W. Bliss Company as traffic manager. He retired in 1986. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Salem and enjoyed being Chief of Police for the Canfield Fair Grounds for many years. Bill loved spending time with his family and was an avid golfer. He was past Columbiana County Humane Officer. Survivors include his wife, Connie (McKnight) Fast, whom he married May 20, 2008, two sons, David (Sarah) Fast of Streetsboro and Randy (Andrea) Fast of Salem; a daughter, Kathy S. (Mark) Rastetter of Paris, Ohio; a brother, Paul (Bernice) Fast of Salem; seven grandchildren, Tobey (Mike) Rogowsky, Jacob (Michelle) Fast, Nolan Fast, Sarah (Ryan) Koran, Jared and Jesse Rastetter and Morgan (Dave) Shanabarger; and four great-grandchildren. His first wife, Glennell Mae (Hostetter) Fast, whom he married April 4, 1953, preceded him in death May 13, 2007.
