NELSON – William Barnes, Jr., 76, of Chattanooga died Mach 19, 2004 in a local hospital. A lifelong resident of Hamilton County, Mr. Nelson was retired from the advertising dept. of Provident Life and was a CLU. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying bird watching, fishing, photography and also enjoyed writing. He was a graduate of Red Bank High School and the University of Chattanooga. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in World War II. He was preceded in death by his son, Jarrett C. Nelson. Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Connie (Carrie) Nelson; son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Jada Nelson, Signal Mountain; daughters and son-in-law, Janet Nelson Ditzer, Chattanooga, Jill and David King, Ooltewah; brothers and sisters-in-law, David R. and Ann Nelson, Royston, Ga., and Dennis and Polly Houser, Chattanooga; grandchildren, Aidan Nelson, Meghan Ditzer, Brittany King and Nick King.
