Mr. Bals died at the Countryside Home Saturday, September 26, 2015.
Bill was born on June 10, 1926, in Madison, the son of Fred and Alma (Kloke) Bals. He was raised on the family farm northwest of Madison. He attended rural school and graduated from Madison High Schools. Following his graduation, Bill farmed with his family.
Bill had a love for baseball and played third base on the Madison 1951 State Championship Team. He also enjoyed bowling, playing cards and watching the corn grow. Bill liked to fish and made several trips to Minnesota.
He was especially proud of growing his sweet corn better known as Billy Corn.
Bill had a fondness for fried chicken and biscuits with gravy from Brady, Amy, Hollie at Brady N Amys and hot beef sandwiches from Club 81. He kept an adequate supply Old Mill Light in his refrigerator.
Bill was the American farmer. He lived a simple life, worked hard and his passion was farming and raising his hogs.
He is survived by one brother, Robert Bob Bals, of Madison, one sister, Maryann Byfield, of Omaha; cousins, many nieces and nephews; his special friend, Chris Ledford, of Texas; his good friend, Kenny Wessel, of Madison; his special familyAndy, April, Dylan, Carter and Sadie Brabec.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Berneda Burns; one niece, Carol Zessin.
