William Balch, age 79, of Aurora, former resident of Salem, died suddenly on Monday, August 8, 2016 after a brief illness.
Born in Terre Haute, Indiana, Bill was a member of the IU Big Ten Championship basketball team for two consecutive seasons in the 1950’s, and was a member of the SAE Fraternity. While in Salem, Bill enjoyed many years of volunteering at the Almost New Shop, where he made many friends.
Survivors include his wife, Marlys Balch; two sons, Dr. Bradley Balch and Scott Balch; two stepchildren, Kristopher Lee and Shauna Peters, as well as nine grandchildren.
