William A. Richter, 87, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019. He was born October 15, 1931, in Saginaw, MI to the late Charles and Eleanor (Laesch) Richter, the youngest of six children.

Bill graduated from Ferris College of Pharmacy, served honorably as a medic in the Army, and began a long career as a pharmacist in Kalamazoo, becoming well known on the West Side as manager and pharmacist of Muir Drug. Bill was united in marriage to Inara Blankenburgis on November 1, 1958. They lived in Kalamazoo for their entire 48 years together.

Bill was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo where he sang in the choir, and was also a singer in the Prime Time Players. He was an avid ranked chess player and a league bowler. Bill was often the instigator of musical and family events, enjoying gathering family and friends around the pool or the piano.

Bill is survived by his children Linda Richter, William (Kathy) Richter II, and Eric (Janlee) Richter; 4 grandchildren Rudy, Emma, Jayden, and Alexis Richter; many nieces and nephews; his dear sister-in-law Ligita Samsons; and his dear friend Juanita Rothman. He was preceded in death by his wife Inara, siblings Grace Culver, Dorothy Young, June Woodward, Charles Richter, and Robert Richter.
