William (Bill) A. Blackmon, age 63, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021, at his home in Newnan. Bill was born in Albany, NY to the late James Miller Blackmon, Sr. and Gussie Mae Brewer Blackmon. He called Tennessee home, although he had lived in various states including Missouri, Florida and Georgia where he moved in 1985.
Bill took early retirement from the Georgia Power Company in 2017 so that he could spend more time following his passion of golf. Bill loved playing golf, anywhere, anytime. He also loved following his favorite college team the Tennessee Vols and his hometown Atlanta Falcons. He also enjoyed cheering on the Atlanta Braves. During his tenure with Georgia Power, he participated in Relay for Life every year as well as any golf tournaments sponsored by Georgia Power. One of the most special times that he was a part of representing Georgia Power, was volunteering during the 1996 Olympics.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, as well as two of his brothers, James Blackmon (Donna) and David Blackmon (Deirdre), his nephew, Little David Blackmon and half-sister, Shirley Rabe. He is survived by his daughters, Jessica Cheaves (Rocky) and Ashley Blackmon, his three grandchildren, Brayden Cheaves, Everleigh Cheaves and Jordan Cheaves, as well as his brother, Phillip Blackmon and half-brother, Jimmy Jarrett (Donna). He also leaves behind 5 nieces, 3 nephews as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
