William A. O’Brien (OB), age 83, of Wake County, NC (formerly of Westbrookville, NY and Pompano Beach, FL) passed away with family by his side on Monday, March 27, 2023, following a sudden and critical illness. We are comforted knowing that he is re-united with the love of his life, Virginia E. O’Brien, who pre-deceased him July 30, 2020.
William was born in Yonkers, NY on May 19, 1939 to his parents, Helen and William O’Brien who pre-deceased him. He is also pre-deceased by two sisters, Ellen Borger and Margaret O’Brien and a brother-in-law, Jerry Mishk.
William is a former Navy Veteran and worked as an industrial insulator for the Heat & Frost Insulators and Allied Workers union Local #91 (Peekskill, NY) for many years.
He is survived by his two daughters and son’s-in-law, Kathleen and Fred Sinawa and Darlene and Jim Brislin, four grandchildren and their spouses; Matthew and Margaret Brislin, Joseph and Bethany Brislin, Shawn and Maryam Sinawa, and Christina and Ryan VanKeuren, and his 8 great-grandchildren; Veronica, Gemma, Gabrielle, Jude, Philip, Therese, Agnes, and Bosco. Also surviving are his sister, Rose Mishk, and two brothers and their spouses, Robert and Betty O’Brien, Thomas and Joan O’Brien, and several nieces and nephews.
William, (dad, pops) is warmly remembered for his great sense of humor, generous spirit, his great love for family and the many friends he made during his lifetime, and, of course, his ability to tell a great story. He gave us many happy, heartfelt memories to reflect upon.
