William A. Mainwaring, age 71, passed away Sunday evening January 31, 2016 at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness. Bill was born November 8, 1944 in Alliance, Ohio, the son of the late William H. Mainwaring and Ellen (Dailey) Mainwaring.
He was a 1962 graduate of Alliance High School and attended The Ohio State University prior to enlistment in the U.S. Air Force. His service from 1965-1969 included a tour in Vietnam. Before retiring as President of Reliance Medical Products in Cincinnati, Bill was involved in sales and marketing for several medical companies including Sherwood Medical Industries, SMR (Storz Instrument Co.) and Precision Professional Products.
He had held membership in the American Legion Post 166; Conrad Masonic Lodge; Tadmor Temple in Akron; Valley of Canton Scottish Rite; and the First United Presbyterian Church of Alliance.
Besides being known for his wry sense of humor, Bill was a good son, husband, father, neighbor and friend and a proud military veteran.
Bill is survived by his wife Sara “Sally” (Coppock) Mainwaring, his children Susan (Bryan) Mainwaring Wright of Arlington, VA, David Mainwaring of Salem, a special cousin Leigh Mainwaring and his aunt, Mary Jayne Fulop of Alliance.
His sister, Leslie Jo Bourne, also preceded him in death.
The family would like to thank the staff at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as well as the Hospice of the Valley for their care.
