William Anthony Linden, Sr., 65, of Barkhamsted, passed away unexpectedly at home on the evening of March 2, 2009. Born November 21, 1943, in Harlem, New York, he was the oldest child of William and Madeline (Battapaglia) Linden. Bill shared a very special love with Denise Marie (Plant), his best friend and wife of 42 years. He was the proud father of three children. He is survived by his adoring children and their spouses: William Anthony, Jr. and his wife Katie Linden, Kirk Matthew and his wife Pamela Linden, and Maria Danielle Linden-Bieluch, M.D. and her husband Jonathan Bieluch, all of New York City. He was the doting grandfather of Jesse Beckett Linden and Kennedy Brook Bieluch and he greatly anticipated the birth of a granddaughter in the spring. He is also survived by his proud father, William Linden, 96, a World War II Veteran of Torrington, and his brother Robert Austin and his wife Carol Linden of Torrington, and his sister Kathleen Anne Linden and her husband Edward Mutrie of Plymouth, MA. He was the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother, Madeline. Bill was raised in Queens, New York, and moved to Barkhamsted where he lived with his family for the past 37 years. He was a graduate of the Brooklyn Technical High School, and attended the Brooklyn Polytechnical Institute. He served proudly in the National Guard. At the time of his death, he was a Managing General Agent and Vice President for AmerAssist. He also served on the Barkhamsted Board of Education in the 1980’s. Bill was surrounded by loving family, friends and neighbors. His greatest pride was his family. He will be so, so missed.
