William A. “Bill” Cannata, age 86, of Plymouth passed away peacefully on November 2, 2018 at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Connors) Cannata for twenty-six years. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons William Cannata, Jr. and his wife Tessa of Walpole, MA, Robert Cannata and his wife Maria of Westminster, Colorado, and Thomas Cannata of Walpole, MA., his devoted grandson Daniel Cannata of Walpole, and his grandchildren Ted Cannata of Norwood and Stephanie, Melanie, Ryan and Andrew Cannata of Westminster, Colorado. William was the step-father of Lisa Newcity of Bristol, R.I. and James Locke of Plymouth, MA and was “Grandpa Bill” to Shannon and Kelly Locke and Emma and Julia Newcity. He is also survived by his sister Mary Eldredge of Chatham, and many nieces and in Boston on May 1, 1932 to Anthony and Anna (O’Hare) Cannata, William was the youngest of ten children in a large loving family in Dorchester, MA. He was preceded in death by his brothers Paul, Edmund, Joseph, Charles and Robert Cannata and his sisters Ann Morley, Eleanor La Civita and Claire Cannata. He is survived by many nieces and nephews and their . Cannata was a veteran of the Korean War and a recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge. He retired from Nynex after twenty years of service as a technician. He was a lover of nature, music, and his dogs Molly and Stella. However, his true passion was tennis. Before recently moving to Plymouth, he resided for many years in Chatham and he belonged to the Chatham Senior Tennis group where he enjoyed so many wonderful times playing well into his late eighties.
