William (Bill) A. Jeffries, 86 of Midland, passed away on Sunday May 28, 2017 and is now in heaven with his beloved wife, Patricia A. (Marksbury) Jeffries and granddaughter, Megan Strouse whom he missed dearly.
He and Pat eloped on January 20, 1951 and spent 44 years together before she went home to our Lord in 2003. He is survived by a son, 3 daughters and their spouses: Toni and Tim Hazen, David and Cherrie (Crosby) Jeffries, Vicki and Tom Strouse, and Jodi and Daniel Williams, brother and sister-in-law, Lyman and Barbara (Stewart) Jeffries – all of Midland as well as 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Adelide (Smith) Jeffries; a sister, Margie (Jeffries) Cook and her husband Terrill all of Quincy, Illinois.
Bill was born on December 20, 1930 in Quincy, Illinois. His trade as a brick mason brought him to Michigan in the early 50’s, and he retired from RC Hendricks & Sons Construction Company in 1995 after 40 years of service. He and Pat were active square dancers in their day and belonged to the Grand Squares of Midland for many years. He was an avid fisherman and gardener and loved to work with his hands until his health slowed him down, but his great joy was Sunday dinners with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed, but he yearned to be reunited with his wife and granddaughter, and we all look forward to being together again someday. Rest in peace, Dad.
