Willia “Billie” Hunter, 85, formerly of Peru, died on October 8,2014 in Methodist Hospital in Peoria in the care of her daughter Sue, as an result of a stroke.
Mrs Hunter was born in Spring Valley on February 25, 1929 to William and Amelia Ambrose. She married William James Hunter on September 23,1950.
Mrs Hunter graduated from Hall Township. She then taught sewing at LPO Junior College. She was a Seamstress for many years, where she enjoyed making wedding and bridal gowns. She worked for Dr. Margaret Stanmar, then marketing for Acri Siding, then Robert Sokol/US Steel Siding. Later sold World Book, then managed a deli in Hobart, IN and then managed a Senior Community Park in Zephry Hills, FL. She was a realtor for Cawley and Sellett Realty. After her eldest son passed in 1983, she became a professional clown. Graduated from University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse as Billy the Clown, which she was for 30 years. That was the joyous time of her life. Willia and her husband were also Mr and Mrs Claus for many functions. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, camping and her grandchildren.
Mrs Hunter is survived by one daughter Sue (Mike) Johnson of LaSalle and one son David(Peggy) Hunter of LaSalle; eight grandchildren, Megan, Sarah, Michael, Emily, David, Jennifer, Christopher and Krystal; seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2010, one son William Hunter III, one daughter Mary Moore, and two sisters, Dolores Belei and Evelyn Kneebone.
