Willa Honor Glasser, age 93, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. Willa was born on October 28, 1926 to her parents, Oral Vandevender and Mary (Manlove) Vandevender.
Honor was brought up in Kempton, IN and graduated from Jefferson Township Schools in the Class of 1944. She married John J. Mackey, and the two of them raised an amazing son together. Later in life Honor married Alfred Glasser and he preceded her in death.
Honor was employed for Oaks Manufacturing from the age of 18 until her retirement. She started out in the factory and worked her way up to office and clerical work. Honor carried this same level of dedication in all aspects of her life. In her down time, she could often be found working in her yard. One of her favorite hobbies was bowling; and she was part of a winning league for many years.
For Honor, family was the most important part of life! She had a sweet, quiet nature. She was easy going, and often times hysterical with her very dry humor. She was an amazing Mother and Grandmother, who always led by example. She was kind, helpful, neighborly, and hard working! Honor’s family will miss her more than they are capable of expressing. However, they will live each day from here on out to make her proud! Diddly Dee Diddly Doo!!!
Those left to carry on Honor’s legacy of love are her Son, Mark (Durenda) Mackey; Grandchildren, Sabrina Green (Troy Stize), Chad Mackey, John “JT” Mackey (Jamie Carter); Great Grandchildren, Alexus Mackey, Drake Mackey, Addison Mackey, Olivia Mackey; Brother, Claude Vandevender of Clayton, Michigan; First Husband & Friend, John J. Mackey; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
