Wiley William Reed, Sr., also known as “Coach Reed,” passed away peacefully at his home in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Friday, January 20th, 2017. As he made his transition into heaven, his two daughters were at his bedside. His last few days were spent listening to his favorite praise music and to his brother’s (Pastor Jerry Reed) sermons. He even got to hear “Hold that Tiger” and “Eye of the Tiger” before he passed.
Wiley was born in McLead, MIssissippi on May 22, 1942 to Earnest and Ethelene Reed, who precede him in death. Also preceding him are his brother, Edward Reed; and his sister, Ernestine Murray.
Survivors include his son, Wiley William “Rusty” Reed, Jr. and wife Rebecca of Alpharetta, GA; daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Reed Sherwood of Chicago, IL; daughter, Roxanne Reed Russell and husband Dennis of Birmingham, AL; and son, Benjamin Luke Reed of Madison, TN.
