Mr. Wiley Brown Harris, 83, of 1795 Westchester Drive, High Point, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Westchester Manor at Providence Place.
Mr. Harris, affectionately, known as “Smiley”, was born on June 20, 1928 in Anson County to the late Gertrude Harris Pratt. After living in New Jersey he relocated back to High Point twenty-one years ago. He was an Army Veteran who served bravely in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of Brown New Calvary Baptist Church where he sang with the church choir.
Additionally to his mother, his wife, Bertha Lyles Harris, one son, W. J. Harris; one daughter, Annie Ruth Melton; and a grandson, Rayvon Melton preceded him in death. Surviving relatives include nine grandchildren, including his caregivers Dee Steele and Dekirah Marshall of the home; thirty great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; sister -in-law and brother-in-law,son-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews and step grandchildren.
