Wilderine M. DeWaters, 94, of Three Oaks, Michigan, died Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at her home with her daughters by her side. Wildie was a twin, born June 15, 1914 in South Haven, Michigan, the daughter of Fred and Ethel (Dunham) Gunterberg. She graduated from South Haven High School in 1931. On May 31, 1936 she married Clayton DeWaters in LaPorte, Indiana.
Wildie and her husband moved to Three Oaks in 1946 where they owned and operated the Dime Store in Three Oaks for many years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Three Oaks; the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge 239; Book Club; and was a Charter Member of the Three Oaks Child Study Group which became the Three Oaks Community Service Club.
Wildie enjoyed reading and traveling; she also loved playing Bridge and spending time with family and friends. Wildie is survived by her daughters, Donna (Mike) Heckathorn of Harbert, Michigan and Christine (Rick) Quinn of Hilton Head, South Carolina; grandchildren, Jason (Cathy) Heckathorn, Justin (Kristine) Heckathorn and Aaron (Christine) Quinn; great grandchildren, Carson, Natalyn, Kendall, Devon, Joslyn, Micah and Owen, her brother, William Gunterberg of Sun City, Arizona and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Clayton, preceded her in death in 1982. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Donald and Raymond; sister Gladys Amrein and twin sister, Geraldine Buelow.
