Born November 11, 1922, in Fruitdale, Alabama, and passed away on January, 9, 2016, at a local hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Aaron Thomas and Mamie Preston Thomas, and his sisters: Gladys Brown, Carrie Browning, Jimmie Byers, and Hazel Brewer.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mittie Christine Risor Thomas, his children: Larry (Marlene) Thomas and Cynthia (Harry) Lewis, his grandchildren: Marla T. (Rodney) Mauroner, Larry (Katee) Thomas, Jr., Jason Lewis, and Brittany L. (Ryan) Peckham, his great-grandchildren: Aiden, Ethan, and Noah Mauroner, and Addison and Charles Thomas.
He retired from the United States Air Force and Alabama Dry Docks. He was a long-time active member of Victory Assembly of God Church, Eight Mile, Alabama, where he served faithfully as a Royal Ranger Commander and Sunday School Teacher.
