Mr. Wilbur Lincoln Chesney, Jr., 79 of 713 Grimm Street, Sanford died Thursday, September 1, 2005 at Sanford Rehab.
He faithfull served both his church and the community with his ability to work with wood and with his hands. As a member of the Mt Sinai United Holy Church, he served as an usher, Sunday School Teacher and Local Sunday School Superintendent. He was the District Sunday School Superintendent for the Mt. Sinai United Holy Church, Inc. for more than 25 years and he was a Deacon for more than 30 years.
He was married to Shirley Yvonne Stewart of Johnsonville, NC on June 4, 1963 in Lexington, NC; to this union four children were born, W. Jovonnnie Chesney, Sanford, NC, Michelle Yvonne Chesney, Queens, NY, Steve L. Chesney, Accokeek, MD and Schunta A. Chesney, Ft. Bragg, NC; he regarded his daughters-in-law, as his own daughters, Lynne B. Ward, Tonya y. Bethune, Jolene Ostergreen and Melanie Lewis; Wilbur and Shirley Chesney have seven grandchildren, Jacqueline ward, Brittany Chesney, Kaitlyn Chesney, Simone Chesney, Stepen Chesney, Journey Chesney and Jaedyn Chesney; he is also survived by one brother, Vassel D. Chesney, three sisters, Elder Dorothy Walton, Pastor Rosetta Redding and Wilma Chesney and a host of nephews and nieces.
There will be no wake.
