Wilbur E. Ring, 72 years, of Virginia, IL died Monday May 22, 2006 at the home of his sister in Virginia.

He was born July 24, 1933 in rural Virginia, IL; the son of William F. and Elsie Meier Ring. He married Patsy L. Stidman on March 7, 1954 in Virginia, IL and she preceded in death on December 19, 2000.

He is survived by four sons, Steve Ring (wife, Betty) of Springfield, Greg Ring (wife, Susie) of Baylis, Gail Ring (wife, Pat) of Bloomington, and Alan Ring of Virginia; a daughter, Cyndee Blakeman (husband, Bob) of Petersburg; 8 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; a great grandson; a brother, Arthur Ring (wife, Alberta) of Rushville; two sisters, Louise Wildt (husband, Jim) of Erie and Leta Webster (husband, Jim) of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Ring; and two brothers, Melvin Ring (surviving wife, Katie of Virginia) and George Ring (surviving wife, Doris of Des Moines, IA).

Mr. Ring was a 1951 graduate of Virginia High School and attended the University of Illinois in Champaign. He served with the US Navy Seabees in the Philippines during the Korean War. He was employed several years with Fiat-Allis and later with Bunn-O-Matic Corporation, both in Springfield, prior to his retirement. He enjoyed assisting his brother, Melvin, with his farming operation. He was a member of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jacksonville and an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
