Life began for Wilbur “Junior” Crayton-Steele on February 23, 1946 in Lawrence County, Alabama. He was born to Wilbur Crayton and the late Josephine Steele. He departed this life on November 6, 2021 at Decatur Morgan Hospital – Parkway Campus in Decatur, AL.
Mr. Steele attended Moulton Negro High School and later entered the United States Army for four years. He later in life confessed his hope in Christ and joined Progressive Christian Outreach Ministries. He was also a long-time construction worker.
He was preceded in death by: his mother, Josephine Steele; sister, Gurnicese S. Warren and brother, Gurnice Steele.
Mr. Steele leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Beverly Woods (Jeffrey) and La’Tira West; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Andrew, Ferome, Shaquila, TyAireon, Lorenzo, Tyra; twelve great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Blair, Zealin, Ledger, Ferome III, Jason, Amelia, Keshawn, KaLeo, Kanon, Heaven and Forever; four sisters, Laverne (Mingas), Anne, Tara and Sharon; one brother, Alonzo; two devoted friends, Brenda Jackson and Brenda Steele; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
