Whilimena Philicia Greig, age 96, died peacefully in her sleep at West River Nursing

Home in Milford, Connecticut. She was the beloved wife of the late Evan Fitzgerald

Greig. Born in Georgetown, British Guyana, she lived briefly in Port Neches, Texas

before settling in Milford, Connecticut. In 2007 she became a resident of West River

Nursing Home for the elderly in Milford, Connecticut.

She is survived by her two daughters in Port Neches, Texas: Margaret Swain and her

husband James Swain, and Jean Ferdinand and her late husband Gerard Wiegman. Five grandchildren: Donna Bronson, Dawn Stevens-Boyles and her husband James Boyles, Jerome Borden, Mark Van Sertima and his wife Colette Roks, and William Borden. Six great grandchildren: Evan Van Sertima, Leah Borden, Brooke Stevens-Hill and her husband Joshua Hill, Lydia Borden, twins Ciara and Cyrus Bronson, and five great great grandchildren.

Whilimena will be remembered for her love and dedication in raising her two grandchildren, Dawn Stevens-Boyles and Mark Van Sertima. She had a very generous heart in taking in the homeless and needy into her home. She also took in young unmarried pregnant girls so that they will have a home and not abort their baby. She was an avid gardener with a green thumb.
