Wendy Wangsgard, age 83 passed away in San Diego, California on September 23, 2021. She was born to Owen and Edythe Jack Wangsgard on April 13, 1938.  She was raised in Ogden, Utah, attended Ben Lomond High School and Utah State University graduating in 1960.  She was honored to be selected for Who’s Who among college students.

Wendy taught physical education for 2 years in Bountiful, Utah before moving to San Diego in 1962 where she taught at Horace Mann Middle School for 37 years, retiring in 1999. Because of her devotion to her students, the girl’s gymnasium at Mann middle school was renamed Wangsgard Gym.

In her youth Wendy was known around Utah as a fine golfer, winning at the Ogden and Utah state championships in the 50’s and 60’s. She appeared in an article in Sports Illustrated 1958 touting her accomplishments in golf and for bowling a 280 game in the Maxie Kosovo Endurance Classic. In her later years Wendy enjoyed golfing, pickleball, and relaxing at her condo on the island of Kauai, Hawaii.  She never missed an episode of Jeopardy.

Wendy is survived by her sister Gayle Bryan, brother-in-law Larry Bryan and nephews Derek and Peter.
