Wendy Sue Masten, of Aurora passed away peacefully on January 28, 2020 at the age of 70 surrounded by the love of her family. Wendy was born in Pueblo Colorado on June 18th, 1949 to Kenneth and Patricia Jordan. She was the oldest of Kenneth and Patricia’s four children. Wendy graduated from Mapleton High School in Thornton Colorado in 1968. Wendy meet the love of her life, Donald (Don) Masten, after a friend talked her into going on a blind date; it was love at first sight. Don was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base, the two were seldom apart. Don received orders to go to Vietnam and they wrote to each almost every day. Wendy attended the University of Northern Colorado and studied education. Don was granted a leave and the two married on April 5, 1969. The couple moved to Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico. They eventually had two daughters Michelle and Heather. Over the years the family had several dogs; Wendy loved every dog and they were all her babies. Wendy was a stay at home mom, but had a daycare she ran from her home. She was involved in the PTA for both her daughter’s elementary educations and homeroom mom as well. Wendy lead several Girl Scout troops and was always very involved in her daughters’ interest and hobbies. When her daughters were in college and high school, she went back to school at the Community College of Aurora and received her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught Pre-K to second grade. Her students just like her own children were her world. Her favorite student was her Granddaughter Kaylee Holman. Wendy made sure that her Granddaughter knew how to count and identify her colors at a very young age. Kaylee named Wendy “Lala” due to Wendy singing her favorite Lullaby to her beloved Granddaughter and the name stuck. LaLa and Kaylee spent hours together having tea parties at Kaylee’s special tea table in her very own bedroom in Don and Wendy’s home. The tea parties were often very fancy with special cookies and pink milk.

Wendy was preceded in death by the love of her life and best friend Donald Masten. Her parents, Kenneth and Patricia Jordan. She is survived by, her daughter Michelle Masten of Castle Rock, Colorado. Her daughter Heather (Eric) Holman and Granddaughter Kaylee Holman of Aurora Colorado. Her sister Judy (Chuck) Fuller of Pueblo Colorado. Her sister Patricia (Steve) Hill Fowler, Colorado. Her brother Kenneth (Jackie) Jordan of Keenesburg, Colorado and countless nieces’ nephews and friends.
