She was born, in Salisbury, England, on Sept. 11, 1942, to the late David M. Hope and Gladys I. (Ockleford) Hope Cass.
She later married Wayne L. Gott Sr., who passed away in Texas in 1998.

A sister, Maxine Metheney, preceded her in death.
Nanny’s life will be celebrated at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart Saturday, Aug. 27, with a memorial visitation extending there from noon until 2 p.m. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.
Nanny was an active lady who was most comfortable staying busy. She absolutely doted over her family and grandchildren, and enjoyed baking them chocolate chip cookies, playing card games and even taking them fishing from time to time. Her “guilty pleasures” included a devout love of reading, traveling to and visiting foreign countries and enjoying a proper British-style pot of tea, which would always be served piping hot. A fastidious homemaker, Nanny prided herself on the philosophy of clean home, clean heart and mind. She will be best remembered for her almost fanatical approach to laundry, where it was rumored that she had the ability to remove spots from leopards and bleach the yellow out of sunshine.
