Wendell “Pete” Goodspeed, Sr. 80, of Concord, NC passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 20, 2022.

Pete was born March 14, 1942 in Gouverneur, NY and grew up in Baldwinsville, NY. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Goodspeed; his son, Peter Goodspeed, Jr.; his mother Mazie Goodspeed; and his brother, Robert “Buster” Gibson.

He is survived by daughters, Deborah Goodspeed; Amy Hutchings (Patrick); daughter-in-law, Jo Anne Goodspeed; granddaughters, Sara, Carissa, Emma, Carly, Allison, and Addison; sisters, Shirley Coe (Don), and Frances Leppard. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Pete was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, as a Senior Airmen Missle Mechanic (he loved talking about his time in Munich, Germany). He retired with 40+ years as a sheet metal worker, and was a proud 53 year member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 12, out of Pittsburgh, PA. Yes, 53 YEARS!

Pete enjoyed many hobbies over the years including thoroughbred racing, antique hunting, and being outside (Blue Mountain Lake) with his family and friends. After retirement, you could always catch him in his cowboy hat and cowboy boots, either on a softball field watching his granddaughters or sitting poolside telling stories, leaving everyone in stitches! He loved making people laugh, although dependent on your sense of humor. He also enjoyed his steak dinners, sangrias, and his new found love of Brownie Brittle!

Pete was incredibly proud of his wife, children, and granddaughters, and would want nothing more for them to know that, and to keep reaching for their goals and dreams. He absolutely loved and cherished each of you! This is where he would tell you ‘I love you,’ and give you a big hug (maybe!).
