Wendell Payton Holmes Jr., of Clinton, Maryland peacefully passed on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at the age of 41 years old.
Wendell, also known as “Pooh,” was born in Washington, DC to Wendell Payton Holmes Sr. and Kimberley Lindsay Jordan on February 12, 1979. He was the oldest of nine siblings. He was educated in the PG county school system upon completing high school he learned the trade of Cement Masonry.
Wendell was baptized at the age of 12 at the Way of the Cross Church located in Washington, DC. He was married to Saiydah Grant, who was the love of his life. He had one daughter Kayla Holmes and was the father to Elijah, Safiyah, and Malachi, who preceded him in death.
Wendell enjoyed living life to the fullest. This past summer he had the opportunity to travel to Las Vegas. He enjoyed listening to music, reading and watching TV. He had such interest and love in documentaries and one of his favorite books was ‘48 Laws of Power.’ He had two simple and commonly used sayings that he took favor in “I am a chess player, not checkers” and the other, “Why wake a sleeping bear.” He loved football and was a true die-hard Washington Redskin fan.
Wendell is survived by his wife Saiydah, children, Kayla Holmes, Elijah Grant, and Safiyah Grant, parents, Wendell Holmes, Sr. (Theresa) and Kimberley Jordan, his siblings Lyndsay, Tiffany, Brandon, Wesley, Eion, Brian, Julian and Jordan, his godparents Ronnell and Aaron Simon and his grandmother, Barbara Thompson and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
He was immensely loved by many and will be truly missed.
