Wendell Keith Larrington, age 91, entered heaven’s gate on Sunday, June 9, 2013, surrounded by his loving wife and family at the Legacy Lodge hospice house in Chariton, Iowa.
Wendell was born September 5, 1921 in Lucas County, Iowa to Leslie and Beulah Larrington.
He attended country school and graduated from Chariton High School in 1937.
In 1943 Wendell married Lorraine Evelyn Day of Russell.
To this union were born four children:
Larry W. Larrington (Cleta) of Bloomfield; Roger L. Larrington (Connie) of Chariton; Linda M. Walker (Marvin) of Winterset; and Harold L. Larrington (Holly) of Dayton.
Wendell farmed all his life, residing on the same farm since he was 4 years old.
He also sat on the Lucas County Board of Reviews and was a 4-H leader for ten years.
One of Wendell’s greatest joys was time spent with his family.
His Christian witness and walk with the Lord created a legacy that has had a definite influence on his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Wendell was a gentle man, loving husband of 70 years and wonderful Dad.
Wendell is survived by his wife, four children and their spouses, 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Also, one brother, Verland Larrington (Jessie) of Chariton, two sisters, Beverly Shannon of Texas and Barbara Hiserodt (Don) of Arizona.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Verda Cash of Centerville and one niece.
