Wayne L. Sheldon
Wayne Lewis Sheldon was born May 21, 1921 in Esterville, Iowa to Lester and Ethel (Brown) Sheldon. He passed from this life on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 88 years of age in Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. He was a former resident of the Chariton area.
Wayne was united in marriage on May 24, 1953 to L. Darlene (Clark) Crow.
They celebrated fifty years of marriage, May 24, 2003.
Wayne worked in the trucking industry as a driver. Also, his father, two brothers, and brother-in-law were all truck drivers as well. Wayne was retired from Ruan Transport Corp.
In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed bowling and was a bowler on several teams. He also enjoyed camping and was a member to a campers club. They camped weekends, vacations, and were part of the “Winter Texans” for several years. Wayne loved his child and always had time for him. Family activities would include rides in his semi-truck, going out to the farm to ride horses, fishing, picnics in the park, going to ball games, camping for the weekend, and bowling in the adult/child tournaments. Wayne was always proud of his son, Donald. Wayne loved and raised him and in his heart, that is what mattered the most.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Les and Ethel Sheldon; his brothers, Vernon and Robert; brother-in-law, Bill Koop; his nephews, Wayne Koop and Gary Sheldon; and niece, LeAnn Sheldon.
He is survived by his wife, L. Darlene Sheldon; his son Donald (Bill) Crow and wife, Kathie; his grandson, Tim Crow and wife, Rebecca; his granddaughters, Heather Lewis and Angie Mulcahy; great grandchildren, Brittany, Brady, and Bralyn Bigley and Samantha Crow; his sister, Betty Koop; many nieces, nephews and friends.
