Wayne Ray Walters, 86, passed away Wednesday August 6, 2014 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of New Whiteland. Wayne was born June 13, 1928 in Rockville to Burtis R. and Freida F. (Thomas) Walters.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was employed with National Cash Register for 44 years as a service representative; retiring in 1991. Wayne was a member of the New Whiteland Volunteer Fire Department where he served as chief for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and tinkering around the house. He loved his family and spending time with them.

He is survived by five children, Carole Ann (Eugene) McClure of Whiteland, Mary Kathryn (Randall) Candler of Fishers, Wayne Edward (Pam) Walters of Texas, Peggy Lynn Walters of Greenwood, Gary Ray (Frances) Walters of Indianapolis, three sisters, Doris Strimbel, Marjorie Kimmel and Linda Hardin, a brother, Jerry “Butch” Walters, eleven grandchildren, Andrea Bledsoe, Nicholas and Blake Candler, Leann Anderson, John and Joshua McClure, Rachel Murphy, Matthew, Andrew, Michael, and Leah Walters, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great- grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Virginia E. ( Flesher )Walters, son, Joseph Clark Walters, brother, Jack Thomas and sister, Joann Overpeck.
