Wayne R. Weller, age 70, of Three Oaks, passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 19, 2015, in Royalton Manor in Saint Joseph, Michigan, ending his courageous battle with cancer. Wayne was born June 10, 1945 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the son of Dayle E. Weller and Marjorie (Frost) Weller. Wayne graduated from Three Oaks High School in 1963, attended Grand Valley State College, Miami-Dade College and Embry Riddle Flight School. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.

After his service, Wayne owned Niles Airways at the airport in Niles, Michigan, before becoming a Lear Jet pilot for Sealed Power Corporation in Grand Haven, Michigan. Wayne was a certified air frame and engine mechanic in addition to being a corporate pilot.Wayne always loved flying, as well as boating and sailing. He spent many enjoyable years at Torch Lake in Northern Michigan. Wayne married Annie McBain in 1981. She preceded him in death, as did his parents. Wayne adored his golden retriever, Buttercup.

Wayne will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by two sisters, Dianne (Ron) Jelinek of Three Oaks, Daylene (John Houtsma) Lumis of Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada; two nephews, Jamie Hollenbeck of Valrico, Florida, Eric (Larissa) Lumis of Switzerland; one niece, Brita Lumis of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; great nephew and great niece, Simon Sorenson-Lumis and Julia Sorenson-Lumis; cousins, Leon (Ann) Weller of Waco, Texas, Janet (Paul) Grandlinard of Mendon, Michigan, Anita (Jack) Vance of Waco, Texas, Bob Frost of Detroit, Michigan, Nancy (Marty) Skopec of Buchanan, Michigan and Kay (Michael) Merrill of South Bend, Indiana.
