VAN DONGEN, Mr. Wayne L. Kalamazoo, MI died Tuesday morning, August 1, 2017. Wayne was born August 21, 1933 in Grand Haven, Michigan a son of Gerald and Nellie (Bosma) VanDongen. During the Korean War he served with the U.S. Navy. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1958 and was employed with General Motors for 15 years before retiring. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Elizabeth VanderMolen; and his wife, Charlene VanDongen on June 1, 2016.
He is survived by 4 children, Gaylyn Lee of Kalamazoo, Scott (Pam) VanDongen of Brownsburg, IN, Gregg VanDongen of Atlanta, GA, and Kyle (Pam) VanDongen of Galesburg; 6 grandchildren, Ryan, Nicholas, Lindsey, Connor, Abbey and Andy; 4 great-grandchildren, Paul, Natalie, Ryland and Roman; a sister, Dolores VanDongen of Grand Haven; 4 brothers, Gene (Barb) VanDongen of Grand Rapids, Gary (Diane) VanDongen of Wyoming, MI, Jim (Deb) VanDongen of Plainfield, MI, and Chuck (Dawn) VanDongen of Muskegon, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
