Mr. Wayne H. Taylor, 76, of Huntsville, formerly of Meridianville, went to be with the Lord on Monday.  He was a Christian and a member of Hazel Green United Methodist Church.   He had a servant’s heart and was always wanting to help others who needed him.  He loved people and socializing, and he always had a story to tell to anyone who would listen. His favorite pastime was searching for the elusive Bigfoot.  Wayne wanted everyone to know that he was “a life-long, card-carrying Democrat.”

Wayne was raised in Meridianville and was a life-long resident of Madison County.   He was a graduate of Butler High School and of Austin Peay State University, of which he was an avid sports fan and strong supporter of the Alumni Association.  After college, Wayne taught at J.O. Johnson High School for three years.  After his time in the classroom, he spent the rest of his life working real estate, both as a realtor and investor.  In addition, he was a successful auctioneer in North Alabama and Tennessee.

He had a love for old-time mountain music and enjoyed playing the dulcimer with his band, the Wade Mountain Wanderers.  Through the years, he competed around the southeast in several music competitions with the dulcimer and old-time singing, winning several awards.  Most importantly, he used his talent to glorify the Lord by playing and singing in his church and others.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda K. Taylor;   His son, Erik Taylor;  His parents, Graham & Evelyn Taylor; His infant sister, Linda Joyce Taylor.

Surviving family members include his daughter, Carmen Taylor (Buchanan) and her fiance, Mark Tubb;  His two grandsons, Taylor Buchanan and Braylon Buchanan; His beloved first cousin, Carolyn Thomas, who was like a sister to him;  His cat, Mister C.
