Wayne G. Haley, 78, of Newington, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. He was the beloved husband of the late Linda (Derick) Haley. Born in Los Angeles, CA, son of the late George and Phyllis (MacDonald) Haley, he relocated to Newington as a teenager and lived there ever since. Wayne graduated from Central CT State University and began his employment as a Police Officer for the Town of Newington in 1969. He spent time as a Crime Prevention Officer, educating local businesses in his community. He retired as Detective in 1992 and continued to work as a Security Guard at Bennett Middle School in Manchester for 10 additional years. Wayne also established the 1st Block Watch in the Town of Newington, was a former President of the Police Union and a former Newington Town Council Member. He enjoyed spending time in his second home in Salem, Maine, overlooking Mt. Abram. Above all, he loved his family and grandchildren and beamed with pride discussing their accomplishments. A loving father and grandfather, he leaves his son David Haley of Hartford, his daughter, Elizabeth DiChiara and her husband Mark, and his two grandchildren, Jennifer and Nathan DiChiara, all of Burlington. He was predeceased by his sister Suzanne Haentzchel and his beloved canine companion Coco.
