Wayne F. Borland, 84, of Peru and formerly rural Utica, departed peacefully from earth October 17, in the company of his family.

Wayne was born June 2, 1931 in Ottawa to Ira T. and Edna M. (Fraser) Borland. He served in the US Army in the years after World War II and was stationed in West Germany where he served as a demolitions engineer assigned to military intelligence.

Wayne enjoyed traveling, fishing, and socializing with friends and family. Wayne loved being outdoors, reading history of war events, flying and aircraft. He was very good at working with tools, repairing and remodeling. He preferred doing repairs independently when possible. He had a keen sense for story telling: dates, people and places. He enjoyed good meals with family and friends and especially going out to eat.

 He was a beloved husband and devoted uncle, stepfather, and step-grandfather.

Ryan Luecke, and Spencer Luecke, and great-grandchildren Tyler Walsh, Bailey Hamer, Taylor Hamer, Tomek Walsh, Peter Walsh, and Alexandra Walsh.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary (Vitale), a brother, Richard, a sister, Jacqueline O’Connell, and a nephew, Timothy O’Connell.
