Wayne E. Zimmerman, 86, of Ottawa died Saturday morning, July 15, at Community Hospital of Ottawa. Mr. Zimmerman was born on August 5, 1919 in Ottawa to George J. and Augusta (Meckenstock) Zimmerman. He was a 1937 graduate of Ottawa High School. He married Jeanne Walkling on June 29, 1944 in First Methodist Church in Ottawa.
He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Past Advisor of Order of DeMolay Ottawa Chapter, Ottawa Kiwanis Golden K, Past Master of Occidental Lodge #40 A.F. & F.M., Past High Priest of Shabbona Chapter # 37 R.A.M., Past Thrice Illustrious Master of Oriental Council #13 R. S & M., Past Commander of Ottawa Commandery # 10, K.T. Past Sovereign of Saxa Rubra Conclave #2, Red Cross of Constantine (Champaign, IL.), Past Patron of Mary E. Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Member of Illinois Priory #11 Knights of the York Cross of Honour, Blooming Consistory A.A.S.R. (Bloomington, IL.) and Mohammed Temple, A.A.N.M.S. (Peoria, IL.), Past member and President of Ottawa Elementary School Board (15 years), Past Director of Pleasant View Luther Home (11 years) , and Trustee of South Ottawa Township Trustees (13 years).
He retired after 60 years of service from the LaSalle County Title Company. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; a daughter, Beth (George) Tuzak of Ottawa; a son, Joel W. (Pamela) Zimmerman of West Bloomfield, MI.; 2 grandchildren, Joshua M. Zimmerman and Kyle G. Zimmerman; 3 Step grandchildren, James Tuzak, Timothy Tuzak and Lisa Hails; 10 Step great grandchildren; a brother, Ewald R. (Helen) Zimmerman.
He was preceded in death by a son in infancy, Jay Henry Zimmerman; a sister, Arlene Dietman Yednock and a brother, J. George Zimmerman.
