Wayne C. Dihel, 82, a former Jacksonville resident, died April 11, 2010, at his home in Normal.
He was born Oct. 22, 1927, in Jerseyville, the son of Donald L. and Elsie Cottingham Dihel. He married Mildred L. Alexander on Feb. 24, 1952, in Jacksonville and she survives. He is also survived by three daughters and one son, Barb (Charles) Hendershott of Fairbury, Donald L. (Barb) Dihel of Paducah, KY, Sandy Dowell of Omaha, NE, and Judy (Keith) Sypult of Pontiac; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Floyd (Gloria) Dihel of Lake Bluff.
Mr. Dihel was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He enjoyed roller skating and square dancing and was a charter member of the Chief City Swingers. He also loved to travel with his wife.
