Wayne A. Eichelkraut Sr., 84, of Ottawa, died Monday night, December 3, 2012, at his home.
Wayne was born on January 20, 1928, in Ottawa, to Kenneth W. and Mildred B. (Holmes) Eichelkraut. Wayne served in the US Navy during WWII. He married Gloria (Faletto) Farmer on January 20, 1994. He retired from Union Carbide/American Hoechst as union president and AFL-CIO organizer during his tenure with over 38 years of service. Wayne was a member of Ottawa Moose Lodge #960, American Legion #33,4th degree of Knights of Columbus and was a former member of Dayton Ridge Golf Course. Wayne was an avid golfer and loved fishing.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Gloria; three children, Wayne (Janice) Eichelkraut Jr., Tami Alsvig and Sheri (Eric) Nelson, all of Ottawa; six grandchildren, Erin Eichelkraut, Laurie Kostman, Faith Alsvig, Brennan Alsvig, Kyle Nelson and Emily Nelson; two sisters, Norma (George) Shute of Ottawa and Nancy (Edward) Coulter of Okemus, MI; five step-children, Greg Farmer and Patti Owens of Ottawa, Amy (David) Swaar of Mason City, Pam (Robert) Blue of Marseilles and Jan (Robert) Kleinmaier of Plainfield: eight step-grandchildren, Justin (Katie) Blue, Jennifer (Chad) Harmon, Ryan (DeShea) Swaar, Blake (Meghan) Swaar, Dane Swaar, Daniel Swaar, Christopher Kleinmaier and Alissa Kleinmaier and 9 step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Laurie Strole.
