Wayland was a member of the Joppa Shrine Temple, a US Army Captain Veteran. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather who was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by his family and was preceded in death by his parents, Connis G. Smith and Dorothy Stockstill Smith; sister, Sharon Smith to cherish his memory are his son, Wayland R. (Robin) Smith, Jr.; daughter, LaRee A. Gomez; grandchildren, Evan Blake Smith, Alex Gomez; great grandchildren, Ayden Smith and Adilyn Smith; mother of his children, Sheila E. Smith.
