Warren Thomas Long, age 34 of Fairfield, beloved husband of Leslie Shevlin Long and loving dad to Warren “Jude” Long, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 23, 2016 surrounded by his loving family following a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer. Born in Greenwich, Warren had been a lifelong Fairfield resident. He was a graduate of Fairfield High School and received his Bachelors Degree in Economics with a minor in East Asian Studies from Bucknell University. Following his graduation he taught English in Japan. Warren then went on to receive his MBA from the University of Connecticut. His career in finance included positions at Kolmar Americas Petrochemicals in Zug, Switzerland, Wexford Capital, LLC in Greenwich and most recently Northern Shipping Funds in Stamford. He was a lover of all things Japanese, cooking, beer, live music venues, Bucknell University, and exotic travels. He hogged the karaoke mic, had rockstar hair and took fashion advice from no one. He was a guitar hero expert and an unstoppable dancer despite his lack of rhythm. He looked forward to work every day and encouraged frequent communal lunches and happy hours at the Crabshell. He adored his wife and family and tolerated an offensive amount of family hikes. He lived each day for one more day with Jude and continued to try to care for him when he could no longer care for himself. He hated the cold (except when snowboarding), dislocating his shoulder (often), skinny jeans, running, and most of all, brain cancer. Not once did he allow cancer to enter his vocabulary or interfere with his life and his passions, always relentlessly moving forward. As his oncologist stated, “he fought courageously in his own quiet way.” Survivors in addition to Leslie and Jude include his beloved parents, Raymond R. and Nancy (Cail) Long of Fairfield; a sister, Emily Long of Washington, D.C.; maternal grandmother, Douglas Cail of Statesboro, GA, paternal grandmother, Marie M. Long of Coral Springs, FL; several aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece and nephew, and his cat Briar, who will miss lying upon his chest every night.
