Warren Duane Peterson, 84, of Peru, IL, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015, at Heritage Healthcare Center in Peru. Mr. Peterson was born November 18, 1930, in McKinley, WI to Oscar A. and Myrtle L. (Nelson) Peterson.

He was a 1948 graduate of Cumberland High School in Cumberland, WI. He was a veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserves, serving from 1948 to 1950. He married Karen Martha Lerdall on March 10, 1951, in the Methodist Church in Cumberland. Mr. Peterson was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the LaSalle Elks Lodge, transferring to the Princeton Elks Lodge when the LaSalle lodge closed. He owned and operated several businesses, including two Ben Franklin stores in Peru and Oglesby, IL three Gift Box stores in Peru, LaSalle, and Granville, IL, and BB’s Restaurant in Chillicothe, IL. He was also involved in sales and instruction for Dale Carnegie courses.

Survivors include his wife, Karen of Peru; three children, Kristina L. (Dr. Tom) Lucas of Bow, NH, Randall W. (Lisa) Peterson of Apple Valley, MN and Cynthia K. (Richard) Andersen of North Riverside, IL; six grandchildren, Marissa and Dylan Lucas, Kayla, Ali and Austin Peterson and Scott Andersen; one sister, Ruth Ann Thiel of Fredric, WI; two brothers, Kenneth (Sharon) Peterson of Spicewood, TX and Roger (Sue) Peterson of Champaign, IL and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
