Warren mercer, 92, of Oglesby died on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Aperion Care in Spring Valley. Warren was born on May 21, 1924 in Canton, Illinois to Russell and Marvel (Wilson) Mercer. He was a graduate of Canton High School. He married Leah Marcella Pryde on October 7, 1946 at the Oglesby Union Church.
He and his wife started Mercer’s Cleaners in Oglesby on Dec. 7, 1945 and operated it until they retired in 2001. He was a member of the Oglesby Union Church, and was formerly active in the Canton Odd Fellows Lodge, and the Oglesby Lodge A.F. and A.M. He is survived by one son Scott, of Oglesby. He was preceded in death by his wife Marcella on Nov. 3, 2011, and one brother, Ward Mercer.
