A Native of Gladwin County, MI, He was a Truck Driver and served in the Korean Conflict in the 325th Armored Division of the United States Army. Ward was active in the Twenty Lakes Tractor Club in Harrison, MI.

He was active in the Baptist church and a member of Central Baptist Church, Slidell, LA. Ward loved his family, fishing, hunting, and telling trucking stories. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Stenger and, Myrtle McClung Stenger, his son, Earl E.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Nancy Ellen Phinney Stenger, his children, Sharon Willie and husband Rick, Jeannie Halanski and husband Tom, Daniel Stenger and wife Deb, Gary Stenger and wife Cindy, Mark Stenger and wife Lorri, Kevin Stenger and wife Julie, Jennifer Williams, Patricia Palmiter and husband Curtis, and John Stenger, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his sisters, Phyllis Gorte and husband Ken, and Beverly Ives.
