Mrs. Ashby died Tuesday, January 8, 2019 surrounded by friends and family in a Temple Nursing Home after suffering from dementia for many years.
Mrs. Ashby was born January 2, 1944 in Lampasas, the daughter of Richard and Nelda (Farmer) Blackburn. She went to school in Brady and also attended Howard Payne University. She was a member of First Christian Church in Brady. She married Dale Wayne Ashby in Brady in 1966. They moved to Little River Academy in 1974. Her love of little children led her teaching Children’s Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She worked at Lohn Elementary. Later she worked for Scott and White and the Santa Fe Association from 1978 to 1997. She also worked for TDC as a mail clerk for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband May 15, 2000.
After retiring she enjoyed fishing at Lake Buchanan Dam with her long time companion Jerry Baugh. She always enjoyed playing bingo as well. Her passion was spending time with family and her grandchildren. She always enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and participating in rodeo events.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Stacy and Steve Cosper of Little River Academy; two brothers and sisters-in-law Royce and Margaret Blackburn of Brownwood and Waymon and Willene Blackburn of Kansas. Long time companion Jerry Baugh of Colorado and Best Friend Nonie Tomastik of Academy; three grandchildren Sydney Cosper, Brady Dale Cosper and Dalton Cosper and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
