Wanda Lee Floyd was born at home in Culp Creek, Oregon, the seventh of ten children, to Robert G. and Lottie O. Floyd.
She was reared and educated, for the most part, in Idaho. She graduated with a BS degree in elementary education, from Walla Walla College.
The joy of Wanda’s life was teaching, which began in a one-room schoolhouse on the plains of South Dakota, with all eight grades. Her teaching took her from South Dakota to LaGrande, Oregon. From LaGrande, she went to Boise, Idaho, and then to Nampa, where she taught at Southside and Sunnyridge elementary schools.
Chronic pain forced Wanda to retire after twenty-five years of teaching. She always enjoyed hearing from former students.
After retirement, she became involved with volunteer work. Working with Mercy House, TOPS, and hospice added new and wonderful dimensions to her life. Wanda met many wonderful people during this period of her life.
Wanda is survived by one brother and three sisters, many wonderful nephews and nieces, and an “adopted” granddaughter, Kylee Deann Williams.
