Wanda Juanita (Nicola) Menear, age 82, of W. Bluemont Street, Grafton, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at Kindred Hospital, Oakdale, PA. She was born in Grafton, August 25, 1929, a daughter of the late Fred Nicola, Sr. and Ethel M. (Wells) Nicola. Her husband Kenneth Menear preceded her in death in 1986.
Mrs. Menear was the music director and founder of the Wanda Menear and Friends Program, a member of the League of Mercy, and a volunteer at the Bread of Life Mission. She spent many hours at local nursing homes bringing cheer into the life’s of the residents though her music. She was Brethren by faith but had attended many churches in the area.
Surviving are: one daughter, Deborah Freeze; two grandchildren, Scott Hartman and Starla Freeze; two great grandchildren, Christopher Hartman and Evan Gadoury, all of Lakeland, FL; two brothers, Fred Nicola, Jr. and wife Mary Alice, of Meza, AZ, and daughter; Ruth Fountain, and Cecil H. Nicola, and wife Nancy, of Meza, AZ, and children; Michael Nicola, Ronald Nicola and Sharlene Conaway. and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by: one daughter, Ethel Kaye Shackelford; and one son-in-law, Roger Lee Freeze.
