Wanda Elizabeth Beckles was born on October 22nd, as a fraternal twin in 1949 at Manhattan Hospital. In an unfortunate turn of events Wanda’s twin brother would not survive birth. Wanda began her modest life raised in Queens, New York. As a Queens native Wanda received her education first at P.S. 40Q than Intermediate School 8 and followed by attendance at Woodrow Wilson Vocational High School. Ms. Wanda (as she was respectfully referred to) made a career of working in the Health care industry as a licensed Home Health Aide for the People Care Agency for many years.
Ms. Wanda’s strength and ability to love unconditionally was grounded in her faith. As a devoted member of the Christ Pentecostal Temple Church, she was baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. Wanda had a big heart and loved teaching, singing and giving the lord praise. Ms. Wanda’s constant faith and love for the Lord empowered her to encourage others to walk the Lords righteous path. Ms. Wanda’s proudest days were spent with her loving family, with whom she cherished dearly. Her two sons, Jamel and Kareem kept her life enriched, with love and adoration, gifting her with the honor and beloved title of Grandmother.
It is with great sadness that on Monday, October 26th, 2020 Ms. Wanda was called home to her final resting place. It is truly believed, however, that Ms. Wanda would want everyone to feel, not grief, but relief. Ms.
