Williamsport, MD – Walter Wesley Tracy, Jr., 71, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at his home.

 

He was born on July 2, 1949 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Walter Wesley Sr. and Edna Viola Anderson Tracy.

 

He was a 1967 graduate of Williamsport High School in Williamsport, MD, and also attended Hagerstown Community College.

 

Walter was employed by C&P /Verizon for 34 years and provided communications for the White House at Camp David until his retirement.

 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during Vietnam.

 

He was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Williamsport, MD.

 

Walter was a member Izzac Walton; Downsville Ruritan where he served as President, Vice President and was a member of the Board of Directors; Conococheague Tribe #84 IORM of Williamsport, MD; Potomac Post #202 American Legion Williamsport, MD.

 

He also served as the Past President of Conococheague Little League and was a member of the 1961 State Championship Team.  He also Umpired at Conococheague Little League.

 

Walter previously served on the Town Council of Williamsport and served as Assistant Mayor.

 

He also played baseball at Hagerstown Pony League and Williamsport High School.  He also played soccer, basketball, and softball.

 

Walter was a competitive Archer and a member of the Men’s Commercial “A” Bowling League at Dual Lanes in Hagerstown, MD.

 

He was an avid woodworker and hunter.

 

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Stephanie Brown Tracy whom was his High School Sweetheart and love of his life since 1966; sister Donna Blackowitz of Williamsport, MD; sister Sharon Bradburn and her husband Howard of Hagerstown, MD; sister in law Kendra Grove and her husband Jeff of Maugansville, MD; niece Lisa Emerson and her husband Jeremy of Hagerstown, MD; niece Malia Bullock and her husband Denny of Waynesboro, PA; nephew Darren Grove and his wife Becky of Chambersburg, PA; nephew Matthew Grove and his wife Holly of Wilmington, NC; nephew Carl P. Weaver, Jr. of CA; nephew Alan Weaver and his wife Pam of Williamsport, MD; nephew James Weaver and his wife teresa of Fairplay, MD; several great nieces and a great nephew; brothers from another mother Leroy “Pat” Shank and Robert “Bob” Lawrence.

 

He was predeceased in death by a sister Patricia Weaver and his

beloved dogs Trixie and Buddy.
