Walter Windfield Terrell was born on October 10, 1954 in Cherry Point, NC. He passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in Williamson, Iowa. He was the second of five children born to James Olan and Helen Ruth (Williams) Terrell. His family followed his dad to several Marine Corps stations around the U.S, before settling in Chariton in 1964. Walter grew up in Chariton where he attended primary and secondary schooling before graduating with the Class of 1973.

Walter joined the United States Navy in 1973. He proudly served for six years. He was united in marriage to Angie Weldon in 1982. To their union a daughter Holly was born.

After Walter was discharged from the Navy in 1976, he began his career taking care of his fellow Veterans at the VA Medical Center in Knoxville, Iowa.

Walter enjoyed many hobbies that included chasing an occasional fish or two, working in his garden and riding his mower over his acre of land. You could usually find him in the company of many good friends at his favorite Hurri Bak Club.

Walter is survived by his daughter, Holly of Bussey, IA; his mother, Helen of Chariton, IA; his siblings, LeRoy (Sue) Terrell, Jimmy (Sheri) Terrell, and Kim (Toby) Dhabolt all of Chariton, IA.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Iva (Caviness) Terrell and Dewey and Dalorsia (Gilbert) Williams; his father, James Olan “Olie” Terrell and his sister, Starlet Ann (Terrell) Corbett.
